Smooth solid- Board on board
Overlapping boards break the sightline while leaving a path for air between them.
- Two design options
A modern tailored shadowbox, or a coastal look with the boards set at a slight angle for a louvered face.
- Approved for high wind and pool code areas
Catalyst's own note, and the SKU pages state the images shown are the pool code fence.
- Finished both sides
Board-on-board reads the same from either face, so there is no back of the fence.
- Rails that stay straight
Catalyst's StayStraight® construction guards the rails against bending and sagging in any weather.
- Color that holds
SolarGuard® fade resistance keeps the finish from chalking or yellowing in full Carolina sun.
- Made by Catalyst, installed by us
Catalyst Fence Solutions manufactures the Montauk, and the image above is its product visualization, not a photograph of a Chonko Construction job. We are the installing builder.
The Montauk is offered in one tier and one color.

Height 6 feet, in two panel options.
- checkPanel widths. 6 and 8 feet. Walk gates and drive gates are built to match the panel, and we set post depth and spacing to the height you choose.
Pick the Montauk when you want privacy that still breathes.
Catalyst approves it for high wind areas, and the gaps between overlapping boards are why.
The SKU pages show the pool code build. We confirm the height and the gate against the code for your address.
Finished on both sides, so the neighbor sees the same fence you do.

- Catalyst builds its vinyl fence on ten named top rails: Element Grand, Element LX Premium, Element Limited, Element Reserve, Element Signature, Element Base, Vertex Grand, Vertex Signature, Vertex Base and Apex. Which one your panel carries follows the grade and the panel size, so it is confirmed on the order rather than chosen off a page.
Post caps are a choice, not a default.

Nine vinyl caps. Pyramid, Internal, Gothic, New England, Ball, Neptune, Federation, Contemporary and Solar.

The solar cap lights the line. Catalyst's Solar Post Cap puts off-the-grid landscape lighting on the posts, with no wiring to run.

Pick it with the style. The cap is the part of the fence you see at eye level from the house. We price the caps with the panels, so it is one number rather than a change order later.
Top rail profiles
drawn to scale, 10 in the programWhich rail your panel carries follows its grade and size, so it is confirmed on the order rather than chosen off a page. Three of the ten are supplied through Catalyst’s lineal program.
For the Montauk, the number moves with linear footage first, then the height you choose (6 ft), the gates, and the ground the posts go into. The full breakdown of what moves a vinyl fence price is on the vinyl fence page; we set the exact figure in writing after we walk the property.
Want real numbers? Our vinyl fence cost guide breaks down what a vinyl fence runs per linear foot in the Midlands, and the all-materials fence cost guide compares it to the other fence types. Whatever your number, it is set in the contract before any post hole is dug.
Warranty and Who Installs It
Two warranties cover a Montauk we install.
Catalyst backs its fence with a transferable limited lifetime warranty; the warranty document carries the terms.
Chonko Construction is a licensed home builder, license #52210, and the installation carries our named workmanship warranty.
Licensed South Carolina home builder, SC Residential Builders License #52210. One contract covers the panels, the posts, the gates and the installer.
Vinyl in the Midlands
Vinyl suits South Carolina's climate.
- Humidity. It does not rot, and termites have nothing to eat.
- Sun. UV-stabilized panels resist the fading and yellowing strong Carolina sun causes over time.
- Wind and storms. Set on properly spaced posts in concrete footings, a solid panel carries Midlands storm wind.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a board-on-board fence private?add
It breaks the sightline straight on and opens up as you move along it. Catalyst calls it a breezy sense of privacy. A gap-free panel like the Newbury is the one with no view through at any angle.
Why choose the Montauk on a windy lot?add
Wind passes between the overlapping boards instead of loading the whole panel, which is why Catalyst approves it for high wind areas.
What is the difference between the shadowbox and the louvered option?add
The boards. Shadowbox sets them flat and alternating; the coastal option angles them slightly, which tightens the view from one direction and opens it from the other.
What is a shadowbox vinyl fence?add
The Montauk is a board-on-board panel: boards alternating front and back of the rail, so the line is screened without being sealed. The Montauk is Catalyst Fence Solutions' version of it, and Chonko Construction installs it across Columbia and the Midlands under one written contract.
What heights does the Montauk come in?add
6 ft. We match the height to the job: privacy and pool code want the taller end, a front-yard boundary usually wants the shorter.
Can the Montauk be installed on a slope?add
Yes. On a grade we rack or step the panels so the fence follows the slope and stays level, and we show you which approach fits before any post is set.
