The boards lock edge to edge, so there is no sightline through the panel at any height.
- Rails that stay straight
Catalyst's StayStraight® construction guards the rails against bending and sagging in any weather. The Premium tier carries steel stiffeners inside its 2 by 6 rails, and the 7 and 8 foot panels add a steel-reinforced mid rail.
- Color that holds
SolarGuard® fade resistance keeps the finish from chalking or yellowing in full Carolina sun.
- The wood look without the wood
The TimberGrain™ tier is an embossed woodgrain texture you can feel, with no splinters, rot, staining or peeling.
- Built for weather
Catalyst rates the Newbury for brisk wind and salt-marsh air, and it is the only vinyl style in the line that reaches 7 and 8 feet.
- Made by Catalyst, installed by us
Catalyst Fence Solutions manufactures the Newbury, and the image above is its product visualization, not a photograph of a Chonko Construction job. We are the installing builder.
The Newbury comes in three tiers, and the tier decides the finish, the colors and the tallest panel you can order.

Heights 4 to 8 feet; the 7 foot panel is Premium only.

Heights 4 to 6 feet, with an 8 foot panel in some builds.

Heights 4 to 6 feet, with an 8 foot panel in some builds. White is the quick-ship color, and Sand on some builds; the woodgrain tiers are ordered, which changes the start date.
- checkPanel widths. 6 and 8 feet. Walk gates and drive gates are built to match the panel, and we set post depth and spacing to the height you choose.
Pick the Newbury when the job is privacy first.
Backyard privacy from a neighbor, a road or a pool deck, with no view through the panel.
The 7 and 8 foot heights cover what a 6 foot panel cannot, on a two-story neighbor or a lot that sits low.
The Standard whites and grays read as a freshly painted fence; the woodgrain tiers read as stained lumber against brick or siding.
- air
The same look with airflow. Catalyst pairs the Newbury with the Folly, a semi-private panel of 3-inch pickets with a narrow gap between them, for a coordinated run by the patio or garden.
These are the parts we order and set, and they are why a vinyl privacy fence costs what it does.

- Top rail
- Catalyst builds its vinyl fence on ten named top rails: Element Grand, Element LX Premium, Element Limited, Element Reserve, Element Signature, Element Base, Vertex Grand, Vertex Signature, Vertex Base and Apex. Which one your panel carries follows the grade and the panel size, so it is confirmed on the order rather than chosen off a page.
Post caps are a choice, not a default.

The solar cap lights the line. Catalyst's Solar Post Cap puts off-the-grid landscape lighting on the posts, with no wiring to run.

Pick it with the style. The cap is the part of the fence you see at eye level from the house. We price the caps with the panels, so it is one number rather than a change order later.
Top rail profiles

For the Newbury, the number moves with linear footage first, then the height you choose (4 to 8 ft), the gates, and the ground the posts go into. The full breakdown of what moves a vinyl fence price is on the vinyl fence page; we set the exact figure in writing after we walk the property.
Want real numbers? Our vinyl fence cost guide breaks down what a vinyl fence runs per linear foot in the Midlands, and the all-materials fence cost guide compares it to the other fence types. Whatever your number, it is set in the contract before any post hole is dug.
Warranty and Who Installs It
Two warranties cover a Newbury we install.
Catalyst backs its fence with a transferable limited lifetime warranty; the warranty document carries the terms.
Chonko Construction is a licensed home builder, license #52210, and the installation carries our named workmanship warranty.
Licensed South Carolina home builder, SC Residential Builders License #52210. One contract covers the panels, the posts, the gates and the installer.
Vinyl in the Midlands
Vinyl suits South Carolina's climate.
- Humidity. It does not rot, and termites have nothing to eat.
- Sun. UV-stabilized panels resist the fading and yellowing strong Carolina sun causes over time.
- Wind and storms. Set on properly spaced posts in concrete footings, a solid panel carries Midlands storm wind.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Newbury color ships fastest?add
White on the Standard tier is Catalyst's quick-ship color, and Sand on some builds. The woodgrain and TimberGrain tiers are ordered, so the color you pick moves the start date.
Does the Newbury meet pool code?add
Catalyst does not market the Newbury as a pool-code style. Pool barrier code turns on height, gaps and gate hardware, so we check the code for your address and specify a height and gate that meet it before anything is ordered.
Why is the Newbury the only vinyl style that goes to 7 and 8 feet?add
The Premium tier's rails carry steel stiffeners and the tall panels add a steel-reinforced mid rail, which is what keeps an 8 foot run of solid panel straight in wind.
What is a tongue and groove vinyl fence?add
The Newbury is the solid vertical privacy panel in the Catalyst line: tongue-and-groove boards with no gap between them, on rails built not to sag. The Newbury is Catalyst Fence Solutions' version of it, and Chonko Construction installs it across Columbia and the Midlands under one written contract.
What heights does the Newbury come in?add
4 to 8 ft. We match the height to the job: privacy and pool code want the taller end, a front-yard boundary usually wants the shorter.
Can the Newbury be installed on a slope?add
Yes. On a grade we rack or step the panels so the fence follows the slope and stays level, and we show you which approach fits before any post is set.
